Don’t waste your time with this University. If you have other options, even if those options aren’t the best, take them because Curtin is the absolute worst for student compassion and supporting success. The staff are disgustingly rude, will treat you like you’re the problem and hold no accountability for errors made on their end even if those errors impact your study! Do not waste your time with them!

Curtin has been my dream school since i was 9 yet unfortunately i had to drop out because of its unwillingness to cater to minorities.

for context i use a wheelchair. I’ve always dreamed of going to school at Curtin and I thought it’d be a good fit for me as they advertised they’re EXTREMELY disability friendly- but that flat out is not the case.
the have ramps near one of bus entrances and a couple buildings but i’m not joking when i say that’s IT. it takes me 30 more minutes to get to class than my peers, i have to go over insanely steep hills and cross main streets ON TOP of entering SIDE buildings that attach to others with a bridge because the ones i need to enter don’t have elevators.

i went to their support services to set up an accessibility plan, and though they had good support for adhd and autism there was genuinely nothing in terms of disability access. they forwarded me an email from an ex student who was in a wheelchair and the entire thing was “don’t go to this area, don’t go here and don’t be afraid to call the fire department- you’ll likely need to”.

heads up if you do use a wheelchair and are still planning on going:
•AVOID any building that starts with 4, there’s no ramps, no accessible toilets and extreme hills you’ll have to navigate. be careful of the elevators they tend to break, if you get stuck call the fire department before the help button (this is mostly about the buildings beginning with 4 as they’re the oldest but it can apply to others as well).

•the only building with accessible toilets i know about is the TL Robertson Library, building 105. there’s on on floor 2, 3 and 4 but expect a wait time of 15 minutes each around 12-1. i’ve heard about other accessible toilets but DO NOT RELY ON ANY as they’re constantly vandalised and tarnished. only trust 105.

•there aren’t any school lifts or busses you can take to get around campus, and it’s a large campus. expect heavy travel.

CLOSING NOTE:
if you have neurodivergencies i recommend reaching out to their support services as they provide genuine helpful learning plans and peer support, as well as quiet reservable environments, however if you are physically disabled in any capacity heavily consider your level of functioning when it comes to excessive travel. unfortunately i can’t safely recommend another on campus school in Perth, i fear our state does not have our education in mind.

Responsiveness in admissions is more than courtesy—it is governance and competitive advantage. My application sat in “verifying” status for eleven days without acknowledgment or communication. That silence was not neutral; it was a red flag of what to expect—stonewalling, slowness, and bureaucracy.
As a multi‑disciplinary executive leader with national sector reform experience, I withdrew my application. Institutions that fail the responsiveness test don’t just lose applicants, they lose reform‑grade leaders who verify culture by how they respond.
Curtin’s delay contrasted sharply with other universities: Flinders responded promptly with a Commonwealth Supported Place offer, and the University of Sydney continues to demonstrate sector‑leading prestige, ranked #1 nationally in business. Timeliness isn’t optional—it’s the difference between attracting talent and losing it.
Summary:
Curtin’s admissions silence cost them credibility and competitiveness. For applicants who value governance, responsiveness, and institutional culture, this experience signals caution.

I’m a currently enrolling student at Curtin. For anyone who wishes to enroll in this university for an education degree, I suggest you consider other options. At Curtin, the teachers are somewhat hit or miss. Sure there are some that actually want you to succeed and are actually very supportive of your educational journey, but those are in the minority. Most of them are either boring as hell, just reading from slides in class, or just downright condescending and racist (one teacher even insinuated that because we are international students, we have no creativity from the education we receive). Others try their best not to help you at all in the assessment by saying that they have already explained at the start, and it was your fault that you were late showing up (even if I only missed the first 10 minutes, and only because I live very far away and I’m coming by public transport). Overall, the whole experience has left me with a bad taste for the faculty of education at Curtin, and I urge people to think again if they want to enroll in this third-tier university. Nevertheless, good luck with the choices that you make in the future.

I would not recommend Curtain University to anyone. Decided to do an online subject and after enrolling and paying $2500 for it, I was never contacted again for any support or follow ups on my study. All of the lectures were pre recorded from previous years, and were cut off recording before they got to the end. The material was basic, and not at all what I was looking to learn for the subject, in spite of being recommended this subject after discussing my goals with a representative. Honestly a waste of money. Much better universities out there that are only charging around $1000 per subject and are providing much better content and support.

Curtin used to be really good, it was a working class people’s university. But since the politicians took over it has become a money making scam. Yes as other people have mentioned 1. a lot of international students who can’t speak English and as a native English speaker you will be given group work with them which is very annoying. Many students from China. in a lecture theatre for 200-400 people you will play the game ” find the local- you may count 4 people from Australia. The government changed the rules so that any resident could purchase property in Australia, and so a lot of Chinese suddenly flooded the uni to get residency permits , especially for masters studies (they produced faked Bachelor certificates- from China). This all started when the big fee increase came in. I was the top student and won Dux awards, but because I spoke out about the problems I was not included in the thesis emails for finance honors (the head of the finance department is Chinese). furthermore I wasn’t even given a proper academic transcript, bad the uni , even the head of the uni fails to respond to my emails to provide me with answers.

Before my honor’s year I had been teaching for a while (because my grades were very high) . However as well as not being included in the finance honor’s thesis emails, I wasn’t given any work teaching, I am yet to receive an academic transcript.

Many dedicated workers left Curtin because of all of the changes to a business model. it is very sad that the uni that was once the best is now the worst. thanks to politicians.

If i had to choose a uni again I would not choose curtin. From the nightmare of scheduling classes that don’t conflict with other classes (there are only limited options due to the small cohort and rigid class sequence), to the unsupportive teaching staff, limited placement options for masters students compared to the undergrad students, inconsistent marking and standards across the board, atrocious parking situation, and poor student support from the university, I would go elsewhere for a nursing degree even if it meant driving further.
