What Comes with Purpose-Built Student Accommodation?

Purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) is a managed housing option for students in Australia. Instead of applying to join a private share house, you usually choose from listed room types inside a building run by an accommodation provider.

PBSA is convenient for new uni students because many rooms are furnished. As well, buildings often bundle utilities into the weekly rent. Wi-Fi is commonly included.

Buildings may include study rooms, shared lounges, laundry areas, gyms, secure access, reception, maintenance support, and resident events. The exact inclusions vary by provider and property.

Purpose-built housing can make the move easier and safer. You may avoid arranging furniture, opening separate utility accounts, or negotiating household rules with strangers. Private share houses can still be cheaper, especially away from the inner city, but PBSA is an easier way to secure a room.
